School Excellence Plan

Our school’s mission statement comes from the wonderful words of John 10:10, “That they may have life; life in all its fullness.”
Our excellence plan is our way of ensuring that we are working tirelessly to protect the children’s entitlement to a broad, rich and relevant curriculum which challenges them to achieve high standards and inspires them to be lifelong learners.

We are working  to continue to improve our already good outcomes to ensure our children are secure and ready to make the transition to secondary school. We’re also working hard to ensure that our girls do even better in mathematics.

We are working really hard to ensure that there is a good body of evidence that reflects the children’s rich experiences in science. We are making changes to our curriculum to more successfully embed writing and maths into our science lessons.

We are working really hard to continue to improve standards in writing – in particular; spelling, punctuation and grammar.

With an external adviser, we are learning to use Let’s Think strategies to help children really get into texts and develop our ability to think in a complex way about the texts that they read.

We are working to improve and refine the schedule of assessments through which we track pupils progress and report to parents.

Pupil Premium

We are working on developing self-regulation skills to enable pupils to develop greater resilience to challenge. We are also working really hard on developing an understanding of mental health throughout the school.

Christian Character

We are continuing to embed our Christian Character in all aspects of the school. Bishop Jonathan has helped us to explore how spirituality can be developed through reflection.

Sport Premium

This year we are using our Sport Premium to ensure that more of our pupils get the opportunity to take part in competitive sport both within and beyond the school. We are creating lots more opportunities for Sport Leadership across the school.  We are aiming for our Platinum Sports Award this year.

Early Years

We are working really hard to develop our outdoor learning environment and all our EY staff are taking part in Forest Play training this year. We are working on developing our Key Worker approach with the children to ensure that their social and emotional needs are well catered for. We are also making some slight changes to the way we teach handwriting.

Special Educational Needs

We have started a new intervention for mathematics to support SEND pupils. We are also working to ensure that SEND pupils are aware of their progress and their strengths.

We are revisiting our Values this year and staff are developing a progression of skills for our 6 Learning Superheroes – including standards for adults in the school.
